Made for Thomas Russel of Liverpool, signed by them and branded as “Russell’s Machine Made Keyless Lever”, this is an early Longines keyless pin set movement.
The balance cock shows Longines’ trademark as well as engraving commemorating a gold medal at the 1878 Paris Exposition Universelle (World Trade Fair).
Serial number dates to c 1880.
The watch contains 15 jewels and a Swiss Lever escapement with a Breguet sprung cut compensating balance.
The case is premium English made and is oversized for the movement.
The case has 105 grams of silver and a gold hinge.
It shows Chester Hallmarks for Sterling Silver, the 1880 sponsor’s mark of Thos Russel and the same serial number as the movement.
